Potchefstroom's Ikageng Township is ready to receive thousands of people from across the province who will be attending the 5-day National Council of Provinces' (NCOP) sitting at Govan Mbeki stadium. Residents hope to voice their concerns direct to their public representatives.
On the agenda of the NCOP are issues such as service delivery, health, social development, as well as visits to some farming areas. Among the serious issues expected to be discussed is the violent protests over poor municipal services delivery.
The NCOP hopes that by taking Parliament to the people, they will be empowered to eradicate poverty. SA Deputy-President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will give her annual address to the NCOP during its last sitting on Friday.
