Ginwala Commission sets new time frames

January 31, 2008, 10:45

The Ginwala Commission of Inquiry into suspended National Director of Public Prosecutions, Vusi Pikoli, is expected to announce new time frames for submissions within the next few days.

Commission Deputy Secretary Lawson Naidoo, says they're currently in negotiations with all the stakeholders to set new time frames for submissions and possible hearings. Last week government, represented by Justice Minister Bridgette Mabandla, submitted its full report to the Commission.

Government's deadline for submission to the Ginwala Enquiry was earlier extended from January 15 to 25. This was to accommodate the late submission by Mabandla.

According to the original time frames, Pikoli was expected to make his submission today. Naidoo says the deadlines will now have to be adjusted to allow Pikoli sufficient time to submit his report.
