SA strengthens ties with China

China is improving bilateral relations

Dlamini-Zuma meets her Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi to strengthen bilateral relations

January 07, 2008, 09:15

The strengthening of bilateral relations will receive ample attention when Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma meets her Chinese counterpart, Yang Jiechi, later today. The meeting is to take place at the Presidential Guesthouse in Pretoria.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pretoria and Beijing. While trade has increased significantly, the balance of trade is still in favour of China.

Currently Chinese investments in South Africa are more than R892 million annually. Pretoria's investments in Beijing are around R2.7 billion annually.
