JACQUES PAUW- Executive Producer
Jacques Pauw was a founder member of the anti-apartheid newspaper Vrye Weekblad. He began his television career in 1994, specializing in documentaries around the African continent. He has received several national and international awards, including CNN's African Journalist of the Year and the Vodacom Journalist of the Year Award. Pauw has written several books, among them, Into the Heart of Darkness: The Story of Apartheid's Killers," published in 1997.

ANNELIESE BURGESS Cape Town Office
Anneliese Burgess was a founding member of Special Assignment. Before this she worked on the SABC's Truth Commission Special Report, a programme covering the South African Truth Commission. She has also worked as a radio reporter and print journalist on various publications including Die Suid-Afrikaan and De Kat. |

Chris Marquard joined Special Assignment in 1999, after a stint as executive producer of a current affairs programme covering events around the world. In his time he has worked as both producer and cameraman.

JOHANN ABRAHAMS producer
Johann Abrahams has a broadcasting degree from the University of Kansas in the USA . After working for several television stations in the Midwest he joined the SABC's Cape Town office as a cameraman-producer. He has travelled extensively covering stories in Rwanda , Russia and Brazil . He joined Special Assignment in 2004.

MPHO MOAGI-producer
Mpho Moagi joined the SABC Special Assignment team in 1999, after she studied for a BA in Markerting Communications at RAU. She has twice won the CNN African Journalist of the Year Award in the Arts and Culture category.

MSIZI KHUHLANE - producer
Msizi Khuhlane trained as a journalist at Rhodes University and has worked as a documentary producer for various independent production houses since 1996. He also undertook anti-corruption forensic investigations before finally joining the Special Assignment team in 2004.

JESSICA PITCHFORD - producer
Jessica Pitchford began her journalism career in radio news in 1986, moving to television in the early 90s. She won numerous awards for reporting on the township violence that preceded the '94 elections, as well as a CNN African Journalist of the Year Award for political reporting in 1997. She made her move to Special Assignment in 2000. |

HAZEL FRIEDMAN producer
Hazel Friedman is an investigative journalist, author, art critic, copywriter and television producer. She is the author of a monograph on acclaimed South African artist Norman Catherine. When she's not producing for Special Assignment, she lectures part-time at Stellenbosch University.

Hannes van Vuuren has edited Special Assignment since its inception in 1998. Prior to this he worked as a telecine and VT operator at various commercial facilities in Pretoria. |
