Kimberley - a
small town caught in a cycle of hopelessness and
despair. An average of 17 people attempt suicide every
week. Ten of these are teenagers who see taking their
own lives as a solution to their problems.

This Tuesday Special
Assignment visits Kimberley to investigate what factors
are contributing to this worrying trend. Copycat
behaviour seems to have become a fad amongst teenagers
and the suicide of one seems to set off a chain
reaction. We came across a group of youngsters mourning
the loss of a friend. Felicity Gough was a star hockey
player and a happy 14 year old showing no signs of
trouble. On the 4th of July she hung herself in the family garage with her
skipping rope. Her family has no idea why she
killed herself. Now her friends are falling apart and
are also thinking of suicide.

Our team found families
and whole communities devastated and battling to come to
terms with loss. Already 156 teenagers have attempted
suicide in Kimberly in the last 3 months. The provincial
government has mounted an offensive to halt what seems
to be a growing trend among local teenagers.
Join us for a look at a
city under a dark cloud. This disturbing documentary is
directed by Nicole Turner and filmed by Dudley Saunders.
