Literally every week a miner loses his life on South African mines. And the greatest proportion of accidents is due to negligence. We never hear of the causes and seldom find out the impact these tragedies have on the families of the victims.
This Tuesday, Special Assignment investigates the multitude of accidents on our mines and tries to find out just who’s responsible for what are clearly not always acts of God.
Shocking details are revealed of what happens underground, as miners share not only their daily fears, but how management tries to cover up the causes of accidents in an industry which should be placing human life above profit.
