About 10 struggling arts and culture organisation in Durban have been given a boost with funding to the tune of R340 000 from the provincial Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism. MEC Weziwe Thusi says the funding is aimed at promoting the development of arts and culture in the province.
The beneficiaries of the grant-in-aid programme were drawn from various cultural and racial groups. The department has set aside a total of R1.4 million to assist 44 organisations this financial year.
Thusi also called for the private sector to assist organisations that are battling to help ensure the growth of arts and culture in the province.
