Flynn has died of a heart attack
|
July 11, 2007, 21:00
The arts community has reacted with shock at the death of actor Bill Flynn. Flynn died at the age of 58 in Johannesburg of a heart attack. Bobby Heaney, a producer and director, says the acting fraternity is devastated over the news.
Heaney says Flynn was one of South Africa's most loved actors. He says Flynn was very depressed after his play, Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum, was closed down last weekend. Janice Honeyman, a theatre director, says the death of Flynn has robbed South Africa of a man who spent his life making people happy.
Honeyman has described him as a very good friend and man of insight and depth. "His comedy… understands the heart of people... That was what was brilliant about him. Bill was an extremely kind individual and loved his work... He had playfulness and a lightness about him, which was just fantastic on a stage."
