Rajah has been chosen as a Unicef ambassador
|
August 11, 2007, 11:15
Top South African fashion designer, Gavin Rajah, has been appointed a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef). The announcement was made at Cape Town Fashion Week.
Unicef says the appointment is in recognition of Rajah's efforts to transform the lives of South African children and their families. In his Unicef work, Rajah will champion child protection. He will also focus on the care of vulnerable children.
Rajah founded Cape Town Fashion Week in 2000, and in 2006 he launched Positive: an event geared towards raising funds for children with HIV/Aids in South Africa.
