Judy Boucher, the well known UK musician, has donated food parcels and blankets to the orphans in the impoverished Alexandra township, Johannesburg, this afternoon. Boucher is in the country for live performances in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
The plight of the family of six orphans in Alexandra touched her. They had to endure the chilly weather in a shack without any help. Boucher decided to dig deep into her pocket to help the family who has just lost their mother.
"I learned about the case when I got into Johannesburg this morning and I felt that it was my duty to come and see the family and donate whatever I can," said Boucher.
The show which will form part of the 10 years of freedom celebrations will start on June 15 at the Carnival City in Johannesburg. The second will be on June 18 which will be the president's birthday.
