|
February 11, 2008, 06:45
The Soweto Gospel Choir has taken home a Grammy award for their album African Spirit at last night's 50th Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles.
This is the second time in a row the group has won in the "Best Traditional World Music" category.
The group's representative, Lucas Bok, who was the musical director of the album, and founder member Shimmy Jiyane, accepted the award.
Meanwhile troubled singer Amy Winehouse won five awards and Kanye West four at the special Awards ceremony. Winehouse could not attend the ceremony, as she was denied a visa for the US owing to her drug addiction.
