The 46664 concert is taking place at Ellis Park stadium in Jo'burg

November 22, 2007, 14:30
Organisers have promised tight security for the Nelson Mandela 46664 Aids benefit concert in Johannesburg next weekend
The concert, aimed at raising HIV/Aids awareness, is being billed as the most secure event ever staged in the city. Nearly 45 000 people are expected to attend on December 1 at the Ellis Park Stadium.
All roads around the stadium will be closed off and there will be a heavy police presence. There will be park and ride facilities at the Wits West Campus and Bez Valley.
The metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says: "We don't want people coming into the area with liquor, we're not going to allow any people across with dangerous weapons or fire-arms. Our approach is a zero tolerance approach, if people are negligent or inconsiderate to other motorists - they will be arrested.
"We want to encourage everybody that will be coming to the stadium to rather make use of the park and drop facilities so that we could have as little traffic as possible."
