Young diva Christina Aguilera will perform solo tonight at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg. Aguilera is in South Africa in aid of the Unite Against Hunger and The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund programmes.

Speaking at a press conference in Bryanston, Johannesburg, Aguilera said even though she is to marry in less than a month, this is a worthy cause and she appreciates being a part of the concert. "I would love to stay longer and see the rest of the country, but because of the wedding, a girl has to prepare, there's lots to be done."

This is Aguilera's first time in the country. She said that she will be performing most of her popular hits tonight. Aguilera's new album will be out early next year, but the star has not decided on the name of it as yet. When asked about charity events, she said: "I strongly support many causes, one being those against domestic violence, among others." Like many singers who visit South Africa, Aguilera ended by saying that she "would love to come back".

Also in the country to support the two charities are South African favourites Westlife, Diana Ross, Deborah Cox and Lucia Micarelli. Last night all of the stars performed to a full-house banquet at the Dome. Diana Ross and Westlife will perform tomorrow night at the Bellville Velodrome, in Cape Town. Picture by Shahan Ramkissoon
