The more than a week long strike by workers at the 2010 stadium construction site in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga is over and workers will return to work on Monday. The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), striking construction workers and the management of the Mbombela Stadium Joint Venture have reached an agreement in principle about night shift allowances and bonuses.

The union and the Mbombela Joint Venture are expected to sign a formal agreement tomorrow. NUM's organiser, George Ledwaba says the proposed agreement has been forwarded to the union's national office for review.

Ledwaba says workers have welcomed the employer’s proposal.
