SAMWU members trash Pretoria streets

May 05, 2008, 13:15

A group of members of the South African Municipal Workers Union, (SAMWU) has trashed streets in the Pretoria CBD on their way to deliver a memorandum to the Tshwane Executive Mayor's office.

SAMWU local deputy chairperson, Zabilon Monkwe, says the union is protesting against the Tshwane Metro Council's continuation to use labour brokers in selecting and recruiting members.

SAMWU also wants the restructuring and centralization of services to be re-negotiated with the unions.

The group has now moved to Burgers Park, where they will be addressed by their leadership.
