A mineworker has been killed in a ground fall at Pamodzi Gold Mine in the Free State today. Chief of Operations, Tony Eaton said the fall of ground happened this morning and claimed one life.
"The fall of ground occurred on level 60, at the 82A ledging panel, 1 840m underground." "A stope team leader was regretfully fatally injured. No other persons were injured," he said.
All operations at the mine have been stopped and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident. The name of the deceased cannot be released until the next of kin has been notified. - Sapa
