Parties to the seven-week-old security guards' strike were still deadlocked this evening, but agreed to meet again tomorrow from lunch-time.
The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu) says employers organisations are insisting on being allowed to discipline striking members as a preconditions to reopening wage bargaining.
Labour analysts estimate workers has lost more than R1 million in wages since the strike started on March 3. Employers are estimated to have suffered a similar loss.
Satawu is considering a Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) proposal around conditions for the suspension of the wage strike.
The suspension of the strike is an essential condition for the renewal of wage talks.
The CCMA placed a proposal on the table in a bid to resolve this issue. The union is consulting its members regarding the proposal before returning to talks tomorrow afternoon.
