India's top mobile firm, Bharti Airtel, is considering raising its offer to around R175 a share for control of MTN. The reports suggest an official bid could come this week. Last week Bharti offered MTN R165 a share.
According to the reports, Singapore Telecommunications is actively involved in potential takeover talks between Bharti and MTN Group.
Last Tuesday, SingTel confirmed that Bharti was in talks with MTN, after Bharti and MTN had said they were holding talks that might or might not lead to a deal.
