Liquidators held talks with potential Nationwide buyers
|
May 08, 2008, 18:00
At least 40 potential buyers have contacted the provisional liquidator of embattled airline, Nationwide. Tshwane Trust is in the process of working through the airline's finances. The airline halted operations last week, citing financial difficulties as the main reason.
The liquidators held talks with Nationwide's top management and the Civil Aviation Authority this week. They are also setting up meetings with potential buyers, most of whom have international links but seek full financial and operational information.
Meanwhile, Nationwide staff is being assisted in applying for unemployment benefits. Passengers will have to fill out claim forms, but that is no guarantee of a full refund for those who were left stranded and who had to make other plans. Some passengers have also lost their luggage and it is a challenge to get the items released around the country, as Nationwide no longer has access to airports.
