Current Transnet group chief executive Maria Ramos has been appointed an independent non-executive director of SABMiller, the company said today.
She was appointed alongside 65-year-old Rob Pieterse, who is currently chairman of printing, publishing and communication group Mercurius Groep B.V and Royal Grolsch N.V.
"These appointments enhance the independence and balance of the board whilst continuing the process of progressive renewal," said SABMiller chairperson Meyer Kahn.
Forty-nine-year-old Ramos previously held the position of director-general of the SA National Treasury and is a member of the World Bank's chief economist advisory council. The appointments will become effective on May 15. - Sapa
