Large parts of the Cape Peninsula are experiencing blackouts. Cellular and landline telephones were also cut, but are now back online.
Spokesperson for the City's Electricity Department, Leslie Rencontren, says back-up teams are trying to establish the cause of the latest power failure.
The Canal Walk shopping centre in the Western Cape earlier experienced a two-and-a-half hour power outage due to load shedding.
Meanwhile a meeting between Eskom, the
Department of the Agriculture in the Western Cape and agricultural unions, to minimise the devastating effects of power cuts to farming is underway in Cape Town. The department and the unions will present to Eskom a plan on how to apply load shedding.
Provincial Agriculture Minister Cobs Dowry says it is harvest season for fruit and wine in the province and farmers need cooling facilities.
