South African taxpayers given more time

Tax payers have until January 31 to submit their retuns online

Hundreds of thousands of tax payers have been paid out by SARS

November 01, 2007, 17:15

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) says taxpayers who did not meet yesterday’s tax return deadline have until tomorrow to submit their documents.

SARS spokesperson Adrian Lackay says those who submit their income tax returns today and tomorrow will be regarded as having met the deadline.

He says so far 3.2 million forms have been received. Lackay says taxpayers can still file their returns using the tax e-filling system until January 31 next year. - Sapa
