SARS prepares to accommodate last-minute rush

The South African Revenue Services

SARS added more than 1 000 new applications to the small business tax amnesty process

July 08, 2005, 06:00

The South African Revenue Services (SARS) is to open all of its tax offices tomorrow so that people can hand in their tax returns and get last-minute advice. While today is the deadline to mail or hand in tax returns, SARS says it will open its offices due to an exceptional last-minute rush by taxpayers to get their returns in.

Pravin Gordhan, the SARS commissioner, says this is in response to the increased numbers of people who have been trying to submit their returns.
