Prominent Free State farmer, Crawford von Abo, has begun his attempt to get compensation for a farm confiscated from him in Zimbabwe. His case is being heard in the Pretoria High Court.
Von Abo was among hundreds of South Africans whose farms were expropriated in Zimbabwe. He is calling on Government to join the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes or ICSID.
Von Abo says he is entitled to diplomatic protection from the South African Government, but he received no meaningful help from any of the departments he approached, including the Presidency.
He wants to be compensated for the R80 million he lost when his farm was expropriated.
