A South African pilot, who was meant to be flying a helicopter carrying Zimbabwean presidential candidate Simba Makoni, has been arrested in Zimbabwe.
Brent Smythe was taken in by police in Harare this morning. It is not immediately clear why he was arrested. The 28-year-old is in Zimbabwe on a two-day working trip - in which he was supposed to ferry Makoni to various campaign meetings.
Smythe's employers, ATS Helicopters, say they are very worried about his well-being. ATS president, Wessel van Der Berg, says ambassadors are trying their best to resolve the situation.
